The Small Claims Arbitrators Association Inc. was started to assist New York State Courts in reducing the backlog of small claims cases in such courts, increase community confidence in the court system, and provide volunteers to assist the courts.
Board Members & Volunteers
The services will initially be provided by the board members of the organization with further services provided by other volunteer members of the organization as they are recruited.
Small Claims Arbitrators
Training program prepares and certifies attorneys to become pro-bono arbitrators in the Small Claims Parts of the New York City Civil Court in all five boroughs. Participants must have been admitted to the New York State Bar for a minimum of five years in order to be eligible to serve as arbitrators. Attorneys employed by the Court may sit if they have been admitted to the Bar for two years and have one year of court employment.
Continuing Legal Education Credits
CLE programs will be offered throughout the year for our members.
